Harvest Napkin Rings

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and what holiday table doesn’t need a little handmade touch? Today I’ll show you how to make harvest napkin rings, using items you probably already have in your pantry! 

Here’s what you’ll need:

• recycled cardboard, like cereal boxes
• paper tube from paper towels or toilet paper
• paper fasteners
• scissors
• thick white tacky glue
• dried beans in different colors (a bean soup mix bag is perfect)
• old paintbrush or cotton swab for spreading glue

1. Using scissors, cut paper tubes into 1.5 inch rings.
2. Cut recycled carboard into 1.5 inch circles.
3. Using paper fasteners, attach circles to rings.
4. Apply a thick layer of tacky glue and use dried beans to make a “flower.” Let dry.
5. Working in sections, apply a thick layer of tacky glue to the ring and apply more beans to decorate.
6. Repeat steps 3-5 to create as many napkin rings as you need for your guests.

Be creative and experiment with different designs! You can also make the design simpler by just rolling paper towel rings in the beans and let them dry- this is perfect for the smallest kids. You could also go much fancier and spray-paint the finished napkin rings gold or silver (by an adult, of course) for a bit of “glam” at your table. Either way, a handmade touch is a perfect way to set your table.
