Flower Fairies and Wood Sprites

Spring is here and Earth Day is right around the corner- so let’s celebrate with a fun recycle craft! These flower fairies and woodland sprites have a special component- they jingle in the breeze!

You’ll need just four supplies for this easy craft:

• silk flowers
• beads of various sizes
• twist ties OR chenille stems
• jingle bells!

You’ll also want to have some old scissors or wire snips on hand so you don’t ruin your good scissors.

And making them is easy!

Note: watch out for small plastic pieces around small children. They can present a choking hazard. 

Here we go, step by step!

1. Gently pull apart the silk flowers. Save the caps, leaves, and petal components.
2. Cut a twist tie or chenille stem in half.
3. Make a loop at one end. (This is the top.)
4. Thread on a plastic green “cap”, a small bead for the head, a small petal component as a shirt, a larger bead for the torso, and 2-5 petals for the skirt.
5. Thread on a jingle bell and twist to secure.
6. Use the remaining half of the twist tie to make arms- center the tie just below the “head” bead, and cross around once to secure. Shape loops for hands.

These are a great way to recycle and upcycle old bead jewelry and silk flowers… and perfect for party crafts, too!
